This year’s mega celebration of #10YearsOf music in Kenya would hardly be complete without two of Kenya’s most prolific, prestigious and accomplished musicians.
Chris Adwar is easily one of the country’s finest instrumentalists (many will remember him as the keyboard player for Coke Studio Africa Season 1), musical directors and singers. He is also an Emmy Award-winning songwriter with some of the music he has co-written being featured in TV shows such as E.R. and films such as Blood Diamond. Aside from all this he is the lead singer of The Villagers Band and has been a coach or judge on a number of music reality TV shows.
Well loved and respected for all this and more, Chris is a champion for the development of the music industry in Kenya.
The name Atemi brings to many minds a most powerful voice, illuminating stage presence and all-around mastery in music. A favourite of many R&B and soul fans since her debut (the smash hit single Happy), she has headlined numerous festivals all over the world including Sauti za Busara in Zanzibar and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington DC among others. Coming from a musical family (her mother was a choirmaster and Atemi sang in her church choir), she has shared her gift in more ways than one, serving as a musical coach on various reality TV shows and at talent development projects. She is also the producer and director of ‘Tis the Season, an annual Christmas musical festival.
This November these two greats share the stage for a special showcase: Atemi Adwar Affair.
