If ever there was an artist who exudes “good vibes only”, it would be the genre-defying Jojo Abot. Whether in Accra, Copenhagen, New York or Nairobi, this wild-haired Ghanaian songstress is often crafting new sounds, visuals and threads—or steering art collective, Afri-na-ladi—to match her free spirit.

We love her 4-track, Ewe and English-spun conceptual EP, Fyfya Woto. In it Jojo covers family, tradition, duty, love, freedom, slavery and gossip as experienced by the character of through a young Anlo woman.

“[…] it highlights a woman’s right to choose even at the high cost of losing both life and freedom.”
